Srinagar: October 28, 2018 (KNO) : Strongly condemning the excessive force and crackdown against civilian population in south Kashmir’s especially Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama districts, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep concern over increasing use of repressive measures from forces against civilian populace and continuous detention of pro-freedom leaders and activists. Hurriyat Chairman while referring to Indian agencies and policy makers said that they have waged a war against civilians & in his appeal to youth, asked to maintain discipline & order during resistance against state sponsored terrorism and urged them to remain cautious and show wisdom. It is of grave concern that police & forces through brutal actions are annoying youth to push them to wall, said pro-freedom leader. He denounced the use of brute forces against the populace of South Kashmir and strongly condemned the brazen act of state terrorism. Forces are laying siege against villages and during crackdown people are thrashed and properties ransacked. Even people are showered with bullets & pellets during their resentment against this barbarism, said Hurriyat Chairman. Pro-freedom leader said that India has made a Kashmir as a battle field and to accomplish the volatile situation in Kashmir, Indian leaders and their Army Generals arrogant and unrealistic statements add fuel to the fire. They subject people to the worst kind of punishment for demanding their right, right to self-determination, as promised and agreed by their leadership in presence of the world community. Syed Ali Geelani said that India should accept defeat as they have lost their credibility and legitimacy and added that authorities through excessive force and military might are continuing forced occupation. No accountability exists on ground as forces have been vested with unbridled powers to harass people, said he. Hailing the steadfastness and determination prisoners of conscience languishing in different jails in and outside state especially Tihar jail which include Shabir Ahamad Shah, Asia Andrabi, Fahmeedah Sofi, Naheedah Nasreen, Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahamad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahamad Khan, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahamad Dar, Shahid Yousaf, Syed Shakeel Ahmad, Zahoor Ahamad Watali, Dr. Gh. Mohammad Bhat, Dr. Mohammad Qasim, Dr. Shafi Sharity, Gh. Quadir Bhat, Musarat Alam Bhat, Gh. Mohammad Khan Sopori, Mohammad Yousaf Falahi, Ab. Syed Ali Geelani appealed the International community to come out of the cocoon of economic relationship with India and try to understand and realize themselves that behind the mask of so-called democracy India is doing everything un-democratic to silence pro-freedom leaders and activists is nothing but a desperate and frustrated attempt to put a blanket on the state crafted and orchestrated gross violation of basic human rights, but these inhuman acts have never been able to put a lid on barbaric and heinous crimes by the state. Hurriyat Chairman said that the Indian response, unsurprisingly, has been denial and plain lies, and given that, we hope the United nations and the world community wakes up to the fact that more pressure is needed to be brought to bear on India in order to end an inhuman and brutal occupation. The sufferings of the people of Kashmir must be ended and the right to self-determination, according to extant UN resolutions, must be exercised.(KNO)
